Cabinet Hinges
Cabinet Hinge
You want to make sure your cabinet hinges are securely fastened for the safety and functionality of your cabinets. Make the drawers and your cabinet hinges by assembling the drawers. Apply glue to the rabbet grooves on a front drawer panel and attach it to the side panels by driving brads through the front into the side panels. Make sure the edges are flush and the dado grooves near the bottom edges line up. Slide the bottom panel of the drawer into place and attach the back panels of the drawer and cabinet hinges with glue, and repeat this process to build the second drawer.

When you’re constructing your cabinet hinges and cabinets, you’ll want to make sure the wood grain runs in the same direction for each panel. Cut the drawer face panels and door to size and apply veneer tape to all the edges. Trim any excess veneer with a utility knife. Finally, you’ll want to finish the construction of your cabinets and cabinet hinges. After the glue has dried, you’ll apply whichever type of finish you want to your frame, face panels, and drawer assemblies. Let the finish dry and install the drawer face hardware. Center the face panels by driving wood screws through the front panel of the drawer assemblies into the face panels. The bottom drawer face should overlay the drawer assembly on the top and bottom edges.
The top drawer and your cabinet hinges should overlay the drawer assembly on the top edge and on the bottom edge. These overlay measurements will line up the edges of the drawer faces with the side panels of the cabinet and the upper shelf. Next, using a pencil and a combination square, draw reference lines on the inside faces of both side panels. Install the side-mounted drawer glides to the cabinet with mounting screws and cabinet hinges, so the top edge of each glide is flush with a reference line. Then attach the remaining drawer glide pieces flush with the bottom edges of the drawers.
Cabinet Door Hinge
Hang your cabinet door and insert your file frames. Hang your cabinet door following the instructions provided by your cabinet hinges manufacturer. Adjust the cabinet hinges so the door sits precisely over the cabinet frame. Install the hanging file frames, adjusting the frames until they are snug in the drawer. Cabinet hinges can make or break your cabinets.
